A moment with Mario

2002-06-18 @ 4:12 p.m.

I'm sitting next to an old high school science teacher I had at Lawrence High School right now. His name is the one and only...Super Mario! Err...Mr. Powell.

This brings back some classic memories of that class. I took his Earth and Space science class back during my Junior year and it was one of the easiest classes I have ever had. We didn't learn anything, just watched a lot of videos and looked at rocks. We took like 2 field trips...one to a dinosaur exhibit at Crown Center and also to a rock show at some warehouse in north Kansas City. Both times people smuggled alcohol onto the bus and I remember my first drinking experience. I had almost forgotten that I indeed had drank in high school...and ironically, it was during school...thanks to Mario's class. Plus we had these stargazing nights at Clinton Lake that were extra credit everytime we went. I went like everytime because I was pretty interested and I knew it would help my grade. But, like I said, we didn't do anything in there and that made me try to do as little work as possible. I remember that before the end of each quarter, I would have a really low F, but then I would hand in all of the homework and remind him that I had gone to all of those stargazing nights. So after figuring all that in, my grade would skyrocket to about a 103%. I totally got away with murder in there. However, even though I didn't learn anything from Mario, I still had a lot of fun and it was probably the most fun I had in any class in high school. Ok, enough with that...

Work today was pretty easy. It was obviously running slow, so I actually got out at the time I was supposed to (maybe 10 minutes or so over). I have to work again tomorrow, but not again until the weekend...yeah the weekend, I heard it was supposed to be hell then...but at least I'll be getting more money and thats always a good thing. I should keep looking for more jobs just for kicks though. That job at the union was already taken, but I guess I'll just keep looking.

I just bought the Ben Folds ticket so looks like I'm definately going on Friday. I'm looking forward to not working on Thursday and Friday.

Well, thats about it. I haven't heard much from Madeleine since Sunday night, but it's only Tuesday, so maybe I'm just too impatient to talk with her. I'm sure the feeling is mutual.

Mario's gone now and looks like I am too.
