My first Shitttty Day At Work

2002-08-02 @ 22.56 hours

Yeah, I had one pretty damn shitttty day. Let me explain...

You, know...I'm just tired of working all the time. I know it's a nice job and all, but I just feel like I'm never getting any relaxing time. It's always moving and then sitting...waiting to get up and move again. I mean It DOES beat moving around all the time (like at Perkins) and the pay is great for what I do (unlike Perkins) but I just wish I had more free time. But I guess I'll be an adult soon (technically in 3 days), so I might as well keep on pretending to act professional.

Funny how I can act professional when fifty year old ladies working at the firm are trying to get each other fired. It's turned into a fucking zoo there. Everyone is secretly against each other. I guess I should have known.

OK, I'm getting off track. I'm supposed to talk about how shitttty my day was. Luckily the following events happened right after each other right before I was about to get ready to go home.

The first bad news I got was when Madeleine informed me that her and her family would not be stopping by on Sunday to drop off her stuff at my house on their way to Texas. This is bad for two reasons. The obvious reason (number one) is that I won't be able to see her again for twelve more days at the least. I'm already dying here. The other reason (number two) is because I'm now worried about her traveling down here by herself in a car built in 1983. So that is unfortunate situation number one.

Unfortunate situation number two happened when I was trying to get many faxes together to deliver and I get this call from a desk lady. I answer the phone like I always do ('hello fax dept.') but this lady made me tell her my name and if I worked there. OK, no problem there and I did. But when Fran went out to deliver the faxes the desk lady called her over and asked about me. Fran told her about me (always says positive stuff), but the receptionist proceeded to say that my voice was 'abrupt' when I answered the phone. Fran defended me, she had been there when I answered the phone and said she disagreed. Fran's great. But still it makes me mad that people can be so touchy about little things like that. Most people like me there, but there are some jealous people that think that people my age working there are too young. What the fuck, I'm almost twenty one! Arugh. I don't really care though. After all, they'll have to go past my uncle before anything else happens.

Unfortunate situation number three occurred when I got this errant call from this ass hole lawyer from another firm in Minnesota who accused me of sending the wrong fax to him. The truth is that some secretary sent it to him and she was gone for the day as well as the lawyer who had her send it. Shit I didn't even think of this until just now...he said that he received the fax at 3, but was calling me after five, so why didn't he call earlier? Damn, I feel dumb now, but I must lay off the pressure from myself because 1) the guy was out of line and 2) I didn't send the fax so it was out of my control. Ah, what a bastard.

To cap off this WONDERFUL day, I'm listening to Ice Cube's 'Fuck tha Police.' Nothing against the Police of course. I'm just pissed.

Yeah, good thing it's the weekend. What to do now?
