2002-10-01 @ 11:13 a.m. I forgot to add that yesterday Madeleine and I were flipping through the latest issue of Rolling Stone and the readers list of top 100 albums. I can't believe that you can have Weezer and Rage against the Machine ahead of Pink Floyd's 'Wish You Were Here,' which earned 100th place on the album chart. This has to be because there are probably still people my age out there that don't even know who Pink Floyd is and if they do, they're probably only familiar with 'Dark Side of the Moon,' which is still a great album, but 'Wish You Were Here' has to be right up there with it. I believe that 'Dark Side of the Moon' got 12th place which is much better than 100th. Oh well. At least 'Wish You Were Here' wasn't totally left off the charts. What also burns me is that every Weezer album I think made the charts. Another thing that bothered me was that the lead dude from 'System of a Down' tried to describe the band's music as a combination of Pink Floyd and Full Metal Jacket. Unfortunately, I have listened to System of a Down's music before and I conclude by saying that there is no possible way for him to say that they sound anything like Pink Floyd. I bet they couldn't play a single Pink Floyd song from memory even, let alone a Full Metal Jacket riff (not that I'm defending Full Metal Jacket or whoever the heck they are anyway). These are yet more reasons for us to take a step back and question the current state of the world. Well, at least the Rolling Stone listed The Beatles' Revolver as the top album. Great choice if you ask me. And Pearl Jam was right up there. I think Ten made #19, which makes me happy. Vs. and Viatology even made it too. The other night, Jose, the drumline dude I have mentioned before (probably more than a year ago though) decided to get all of the drumline people to send each other their AIM screen names. So far I've been bombarded by 4 or 5 new drumline screen names today, which can be pretty cool I guess. I don't know why I'm writing this and I doubt I'll talk to these people very often. We spend too much time with each other in rehearsal and games anyway. Oh yeah, parties too. Sometimes I forget that I dedicate a lot of my time to band, but it's not that bad. Most of the time, although I hate to admit it sometimes, is rewarding. I guess we're more than half way through our season already. I think I'm now finally glad I gave it another go this year. Maybe I'll do it again next year... Aw, I wouldn't go that far. Yet.
