2003-04-16 @ 9:01 p.m. Losing the national championship and then having basketball coach Roy Williams leave for his beloved North Carolina were pretty devastating. It will be weird not having him as KU's coach anymore. I was in third grade when I first saw his team play...it was at the 1991 final four, one of the greatest moments of my life. My dad told me that during the final moments of the title game and Duke up seven, I asked him if I could cheer for the other team! Well, since Williams is now gone, maybe I will cheer for Duke (only when they play Carolina though). The other event I cannot talk about, but its what made the 'week' the worst ever. It made the basketball events seem like nothing. Everyone on campus is down because of whats going on basketball wise, but I don't care. I've learned there's much more to life than sports as a whole. Life is a great game sometimes. I've been able to hear from Madeleine twice the past 2 days. I love her so much. She's done with her classes tomorrow! TOMORROW!!!! And after that becomes the last leg of her trip: a tour through eastern europe. She's going to have so much fun and I'm excited for her and Libby. They're going to see Neil Young in Munich. They're in the sixth row! I hope they can take pictures, but I bet they can...they paid $130 apiece for the tickets. But they love Neil Young, he's both one of their favorite acts (mine too), so it will be great. Madeleine says she's going to the Eiffel tower (finally) on saturday to take pictures for me. What a lovely girl. I love her more than anything. I am so lucky. I'm very tired. I didn't do much today. I expected doing much more. Ah, can't be too hard on myself. There's only so much one can take.
